Benito Juarez Elementary, Richmond, CA
Healthy Lifestyle for Youth is a non-profit organization in Contra Costa County that is on a mission to get kids moving! We are honored that Benito Juarez Elementary is the first school ever chosen for their “Shoes That Inspire” program where our students filled out an application, wrote an essay on living a healthy lifestyle, and received a pair of brand new running shoes! Our students are now participating in an after-school running program and a 5K coming soon.
A huge thank you Grace Lu, the founder and executive director as well as her awesome team and Miss Bay Area 2017, Jane Kennedy for visiting our school and donating shoes to our students! Learn more about their organization here at http://healthylifestyleforyouth.org.

Longwood Elementary
Longwood Elementary is proud to be recognized as a collaborative community of students, families, and staff dedicated to the inspiration of every individual’s desire to learn and achieve their greatest potential. Collectively, we provide a welcoming, engaging and supportive environment that fosters personal responsibility, creativity, and curiosity.

SAN RAMON, CA
The Heart & Sole Running Club is lead by high school volunteers in the Bay Area who have experience running long distance on their high school cross country and track teams. Our main goal is to make exercise, specifically running, an enjoyable and rewarding activity for our members. Often times, running (especially at school) is seen as a punishment and is portrayed negatively for kids. With the right activities and a positive outlook, we make running what it should be – an exciting experience where members can socialize, build confidence and good sportsmanship, while simultaneously achieving a more active and healthy lifestyle.
