What would you do if I told you a pair of running shoes can save a child’s life?
I’m Grace Lu, a 16-year-old running enthusiast and founder of the non-profit organization, Healthy Lifestyle for Youth (HLFY). I’m writing to you today with an awesome opportunity to join me in changing kids’ lives for good.
HLFY is on a movement dedicated to movement, started by kids, for kids. Two years ago we launched our Shoes that Inspire program, based on the idea that a free pair of cool new running shoes helps in-need kids on track to lead healthy, happy, productive lives.
We provided free running shoes to kids at Benito Juarez Elementary in Richmond, CA. We also worked their administrators to be sure the children run at least 15 minutes everyday at school.
The excitement was contagious; the life-changing experience, undeniable. You can see the immediate and profound impact here.
Today the program has rolled out to other schools, and it’s our goal to raise enough funds and awareness to continue to add schools until every kid in our area has the gear necessary to support them in adding daily exercise into their lives for better health and well-being.
In exchange for your tax-deductible gift, Shoes that Inspire gives your company a turnkey opportunity to integrate social responsibility and support employee engagement by creating a corporate culture of giving. In this hands-on model, employees determine how many children they can help, they purchase the shoes and arrange to deliver them to the school. Shoes That Inspire acts as a bridge, providing expertise to connect the company and school.
I invite you to support Shoes that Inspire. Here’s all it takes:
- Choose a school that you want to support in your local community (or we can help you identify one), and together we’ll help raise confidence, health and well-being for the people who need it most — kids.
- Make a tax-deductible contribution; for example a $4,000 donation will provide 100 pairs of new shoes to children in need. Whatever your budget, we’ll find a way to help the most kids possible.
- If you have access to new athletic shoes and socks, we are happy to take in-kind gifts, too.
- You and your staff can participate in giving out the new shoes as a way to give back to the community and support the value of charitable work.
Please join me in helping kids learn, play and thrive!
If you fill the classroom with love today, you will fill the world with love tomorrow.
