HLFY had a great experience at the SRVUSD Run for Education on October 15, 2016. This was our first official experience with raising money for a cause. At this event, we chose to sponsor the Contra Costa County Crisis Center. The Crisis Center is a non-profit that supports mental and emotional health and suicide prevention in our county. They offer a variety of programs, from a 24 hour hotline to different counseling programs. Overall, we raised 500 dollars for the Crisis Center. The money will be donated to the non-profit to help fund their various programs.
Additionally, at the event, we were able to raise 200 dollars for the Adopt-A-Family program. The money will go to buy necessities and gifts to a family in need this holiday season.
All in all, this was a very successful first run for HLFY. Although not everyone who came to our booth ended up buying something, we were able to help spread the word about all the work that the Crisis Center does.
