On Oct 15, 2016, members of the Healthy Lifestyle for Youth Non-Profit Organization volunteered in a booth at the annual San Ramon Primo’s Run Event. At this event, we sold various running products- from inspirational sterling silver running necklaces and bracelets to stainless steel medal hangers. Our team of girls ended up raising over 1750 dollars through selling the running products, and 100% of the proceeds will be going to the Contra Costa Crisis Center Non-profit Organization and Adopt-A-Family Program. For me, this event was a huge success, not because of the amount of money we raised, but because we were able to give back to our community by spreading awareness about the importance of mental health and all the hard work that the Crisis Center does for people in need throughout the country. Additionally, part of the money we raised will be going to a family in need, which makes me feel more compassionate since I am giving a helping hand to a family and making their holiday season more enjoyable. All in all, this event empowered all the girls by giving them an opportunity to talk to people of our community about the importance of mental health, as well as raise money towards making the community a better place.
